O'NEILL, MARY NELL - (1930 - 2013) - Mrs. Mary N. O’Neill of Seal Cove, Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Saturday, February 16, 2013. Born at Seal Cove, she was the daughter of the late Hazen and Carrie (Harvey) Daggett. Mary was a Life member and former organist of the Seal Cove Baptist Church, Legion Auxiliary member, was an avid curler in earlier years and enjoyed Bible study. She worked at boning herring and later worked as a Nurses Aid at the Grand Manan Hospital and the Grand Manan Nursing Home from where she retired. Mary loved her church and her Church family, her biggest joy was seeing the many Churchs’ working together for the good of the community. Mary is survived by two sons Eric (Barb) O’Neill and Phillip (Cathy) O’Neill both of Seal Cove, six grandchildren Heather Worden, Krista Arsenault, Douglas Stein, Duane O’Neill, Trevor O’Neill and Erica Ingalls, and eight great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her sister-in laws; Mrs. Della Keating, Mrs. Carolyn (Theodore) Wilson both of North Head, Mrs. Joan O’Neill of Oak Bay, and Mrs. Virginia Rogers of Richmond Hill, ON, also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard in 1997 and one brother Earle Daggett.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, February 19th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Ells Funeral Home. The funeral will be held from the Seal Cove Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Peter Smith officiating and Rev. Ward McComiskey assisting. Interment will follow later at the Hillside Cemetery in the spring. Mary’s family has requested that donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
