Bridget passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, in the company of family members at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital An Cala Unit.
Born in Sydney, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mary (Foley) Walsh.
Bridget was a retired employee of Woolworths who enjoyed walking, reading, solving puzzles, bingo and the casino.
Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Minding the kids was her greatest joy.
Bridget is survived by daughters, Gladys (Wally) MacLeod, Sydney, and Bridget 'Cookie' (Clemmie) Slaney, Hopewell, N.S. and sons, Morgan 'Brother' (Theresa) and John (Lee) both of Sydney; grandchildren, Andrew Hall-Holland, London, Ont., David MacLeod, Ottawa, Ont., John (Lyv) Slaney, Korea, Shawn Slaney, Halifax, Shauna (Craig) Fukes, New Glasgow, Deanna (Jamie) MacInnis, Sonya (Richard) Spencer, Ryan Dicks, Sydney, and Jauna (Allan) Munn, Fredericton, N.B.; great-grandchildren, Tyler Seguin, London, Ont., Nolan and Brennan Fukes, New Glasgow, Morgan and Jimmy MacInnis, Andrew Dicks, Sydney, and Emily, Brandon and Abby Munn, Fredericton.
She is also survived by sisters, Mary Mossman, Veronica (Jackie) Walters, Sydney, Theresa Waye and brother, Jerome, Ontario; sister-in-law, Margie Walsh; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Bridget was predeceased by her husband, Morgan (1994), brothers, Robert, Vincent and Stan and niece, Jacqueline MacChesney.
At Bridget’s request there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
