Alphonse Perry

PERRY, ALPHONSE - February 2nd, 1922 - February 18th, 2013 - On February 18th Alphonse Perry peacefully walked into the arms of his saviour, joining hands with his beautiful wife, Althea Perry. A resident of Pine Grove Nursing Home, Alphonse was born in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, February 2nd, 1922. He was the son of the late Jerome and Mary Rose Perry. Surviving siblings are Doris Perry and Henry Perry, both of Tignish, PEI. Alphonse is also survived by four stepsons - Art Hazlett (Wanda Jones), Clair Hazlett (Donna Cole), Allison Hazlett, and Darrell Hazlett (Jeanne); grandchildren – Jeff Hazlett, Tim Hazlett, Jamie Hazlett, Misty McLaughlin, Tally Wall, Craig Hazlett and Jennifer Jarvis. He is also survived by numerous, beloved nieces and nephews, great grandchildren and special friends at Pine Grove. A gentle soul with a heart full of kindness to everyone, Alphonse was admired by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He loved the Lord – this was evident in the quiet and humble way he lived his life. His deep love and affection for Althea was evident as well. Married almost 40 years to the love of his life, he has spent the past year anticipating their reunion in Heaven. Alphonse proudly served in World War II. Volunteering for service, he was a member of the 1st Canadian Division as an infantryman and with the artillery. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #04 - Fredericton. He spent the latter part of his working life as a Cabinet Maker with New Brunswick Housing, building and renovating homes in the greater Fredericton area. His life was blessed with contentment and simplicity. You could often find him tinkering with a project in the garage, spending a great deal of time manicuring the apple orchards on “the hill”, reading his Bible and reflecting on his daily devotions, or simply providing tender loving care to his soul mate. Alphonse is predeceased by his wife; his parents; brothers – Aubain, John, Anthony, Edmund and Aubin; sisters – Margaret, Delima, Mary and Celina; and granddaughter Penny.
Resting at the Rusagonis United Baptist Church, of which Alphonse was a member, visitation will take place on Saturday, February 23rd from 10am to 1pm. A Legion Tribute by Legion Branch #4 will be performed at 12:45pm. A celebration of Al’s life will commence at 2pm. Rev. Brent MacDonald will be officiating. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Pine Grove Nursing Home. It is heartwarming to know that your loved ones are so well taken care of and loved when you can’t be with them. McAdams Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
