CULLEN, Mary Laura – 90, Parkland Estates, Truro, passed away peacefully Monday, January 25, 2010. Born October 13, 1919, in Liverpool she was a daughter of the late Chester and Sadie (Mahoney) Works. Mary was a life long member of First United Church. Mary is survived by her daughter, Sylvia (Claire) Roy, Truro; son, Keith (Carol), Kitchener, Ontario; grandsons, Allan (Mary) Roy, Andrew (Josée) Roy, Glenn (Kathleen) Roy, all of Truro; special great grandchildren, Alex, Rhiannon, Samuel, Hannah and Hayden, all of Truro; step grandchildren, Angel, Kitchener, Ontario; Richard, Newfoundland; sisters, Doris McDaniel, Hamilton, Ontario; Edith Bartlett, Truro; many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Keith; brothers, James, Percy, Fred, Howard; sisters, Josephine, Gladys, Dorothy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Mary’s family will receive friends from 7-9 pm today, January 28, 2010, and where the funeral service will be held 2 pm Friday, January 29, 2010, Reverend Judith Perry officiating. Reception will follow. Spring interment will be held in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. If so desired, donations may be made to the Colchester SPCA or a charity of choice.
