It is with great sadness that the family of the late Laura Bennett (nee: Loretto May Grant) announce her passing at her home in St. George’s on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 in her 75th year. She leaves to mourn her loving children: Violet (Michael) Dawson, Diane (Keith) Stansford, Blanche (Dave) Cutler, Melene (Stan) Foote, Trudy (Brian) Blanchard, Hayward (Tina O’Neill) Bennett, Glenda (Tony) Ploughman, Gary (Daphne O’Keefe) Bennett, Tia (Glenn) Hicks, Annemarie (Andy Bodrog) Bennett, Leonard Bennett, Bernard (Nancy Nelma) Bennett, Grant (Tanya Foote) Bennett; loving brother James (Rita Pike) Grant; loving sisters (twin) Violet (Gerard) Clarke, Bride (Alec) Rose, Kathleen (Frank) Neville, Nelly Wadman, Mary (Ned) Stapleton, Anne Grant; 33 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Bernard and Elizabeth Grant, devoted husband Harold Bennett, brother Robert Grant, sister Melene Grant, grandsons: Mason Hobbs and Karter Sansford. Visitation will take place from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, St. George’s on Wednesday 7-9 p.m., Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m.–12 noon from where the Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Gerard Patry officiating. Interment will take place following the Mass in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Shallop Cove. A “Celebration of Life†will be held following the funeral service at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 37, St. George’s, NL, everyone welcome. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Foundation. The family guest book may be signed or a memorial donation may be made through our website www.fillatre.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.
