CHAPMAN, HEDLEY SYLVANUS - 1928 - 2013 - With profound sadness, we the family of Hedley Sylvanus Chapman, 84, of Sackville, announce his sudden death at his home on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Hedley was born in Baie Verte, a son of the late Hibbert and Gladys (Turner) Chapman. Hedley was a member of the Middle Sackville Baptist Church. Hedley loved music and often participated in events at the church as well as the Music Barn. He had worked at Enterprise Foundry for forty years. He loved his family and friends as they did him, and was particularly close to his children and grandchildren who will miss him dearly. Hedley will be sadly missed by a daughter, Peggy (Brenick Sears) Gould, Midgic; his wife of forty years, Matilda Chapman, Sackville; three brothers, Harris (Veronica), Ontario, Ronald (Debbie Morice), Fairfield, NB, and Lester of Dorchester; five sisters, Shirley (late Donald) Hoar, Springhill, NS, Dianne (Winston) Allen, Cape Tormentine, NB, Oressa (Harold Trenholm) Sterling, Middle Sackville, Bertie (late Albert) O'Blenis, Amherst and Doris (late Conrad) Windsor, Ontario; three grandchildren, Stuart, Stacy, and Christopher; four great grandchildren, Katelyn, Matthew, Alyshea and Brianne as well as a special friend, Ellsworth Patterson. Besides his parents, Hedley was predeceased by a son Ricky in 1974, a brother, Roderick and a sister Phyllis Ward.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) from where visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Saturday, February, 23, 2013. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 2pm. Rev. Vernon Vickruck officiating. Interment will be held in the Four Corners Cemetery in the Spring.
