Gordon Snow
SNOW, GORDON WALTER - It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Snow announces his death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 28th, 2013 at the age of 74. Born in Lower Ohio, Shelburne Co., NS, he was the husband of Shirley (Williams) Snow of Fredericton. In addition to his wife, Shirley, Gordon leaves behind his mother, Irma Snow; sons, David (Lisa Martin) of Hanwell and James (Cindy) of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; daughter, Nancy (Dan) Richardson of Hanwell; grandchildren, Adam, Brad, Tyler, Matthew and Ashley; brother, William (Mary) of North Bay, ON; sisters, Alice (Tom) Jones of Lower Ohio, NS, Mary Hartley of Jordan, NS and Margie (Garry) Burt of Lower Ohio, NS; sister in law, Mona Williams of Fredericton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Gordon was predeceased by his father, Arthur Snow; and brothers in law, Owen Hartley and Burt Williams. Gordon worked for the RCMP for 35 years, retiring as Staff Sergeant in 1992. After his retirement he taught Search and Rescue courses and authored a book on survival skills entitled 'Safe and Sound'. In his spare time he was a baseball coach and a coaching instructor as well as an avid outdoorsman. Gordon was a member of the RCMP Vets Association, the Capital Winter Club, FSNA, the Regent Mall Walking Club and spent many years delivering food as part of Meals on Wheels.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York Street, on Sunday, March 3rd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday, March 4th, 2013 at 2 pm with with Archdeacon John Sharpe officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
