John passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his children by his side. He was the son of the late Tingley and Annie B. (Wilkie) McEvoy. John served in the Canadian Armed Forces, the Korean War, in Canada and abroad. In later years, he was employed as a lighthouse keeper at St. Paul Island until his retirement. John is now with his soulmate and wife, Frances (Fitzgerald) McEvoy. John leaves behind his daughters, Keran Storm (Bruce) Morrish and their children, Meaghan and Alexander, Shaune (Glenn) Warren and their daughter Regan, Lisa (Nelson) Dixon and their children, Nicolle, Holly and Janssen, son, Paul (Melanie) Storm and their daughter, Cara. Also left to mourn are sisters, Mary, Gladys, Violet, Ellen, Tina and Ruth, brothers, Jim, Lewis, Hansel, as well as his special niece, Ruby.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Eliza and Annie, brothers, Bennet and Fred.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in the spring for both John and Frances.
