It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Emily Strickland (nee Skinner). She passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at the Seaview Manor, where she had been a resident for the past six years. Mary was born in Rose Blanche, N.L., the daughter of James and Maude Skinner.
Mary will always be remembered as a hard-working woman who took great pride in making a comfortable home for her beloved husband, Lewis, to whom she was married for 65 years. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Lewis, an infant daughter, Catherine, a brother, Alan and sisters, Cass and Sue. Mary is survived by sisters, Fan, Port aux Basques, and Lillian, Rose Blanche; and brothers, William (Dolena), Sydney, and Rube, Baddeck; along with many nieces and nephews.
As requested, there will be no visitation. Cremation has already taken place under the direction of Patten Funeral Home. There will be a family committal service at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Seaview Manor.
