KENNY, James Charles (Jim) – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. At the time of his peaceful passing on January 27, 2010 at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, Jim was surrounded to the end by all his family who prayed with him and sent him into the arms of his Almighty God. Jim is predeceased by his brothers: Aiden (St. John’s) and Ron (Texas) and daughter-in-law Sandra (Mount Pearl). Leaving to mourn his loss is his best friend and loving wife of over sixty years, Bernice (Bun Corbett); his six children: Christina Parker (Ian Jordaan), Stephanie Head (Mike), Stephen (Pamela), James (Ann Marie), Martin (Yessuita Christiyani) and Robert. His twelve adoring grandchildren: Sarah Parker-Charles (Jeremy), Stephen Head (Sheri), Noelle Frye (Kevin), Michelle Payne (Jon), Heather, Kerrin, Thomas, Ellen, Brian, Stephanie, Edward and Micheal Kenny and one great-granddaughter Lacey Louise Head. Jim also leaves behind his brother Ray (Marg) in St. John’s; his sisters: Patricia McKenna (Montreal) and Monica Stackhouse (Florida); as well as a large circle of friends and relatives in Fermeuse and in the Mount Pearl/St. John’s area. For 82 years Jim led a very active and fulfilling life. He was an employee of the CN railway, a member of the Father John B Kent Knights of Columbus, helper with the Society of St Vincent de Paul, owner of Kenny’s Store on Park Avenue in Mount Pearl and along with his two brothers he was a member of the band, “The Prince’s Orchestraâ€. Music played a big part in Jim’s life and he raised his family to love it as much as he did. Whether it was listening to his children learning their piano pieces, or taking them to his band practices, right up to driving and attending all his grandchildren’s lessons and recitals. He will be greatly missed. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home on Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, January 29th from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at Mary Queen of the World on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
