It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Evelyn Grace Ferguson Spencer (nee Jordan) on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at the age of 90. She passed away peacefully at Richard Hines Manor where she had made her home the past two years.
Evelyn was born in Sydney and was the daughter of the late Edgar and Lelia Jordan.
Evelyn is survived by her children, David Ferguson, Courtenay, B.C., Gary Ferguson, Calgary, Alta., Carolyn Ferguson (Louis Blinn), Calgary, Alta., and Daryl ‘Newf’ Ferguson (Kelly Donovan), MacAdam’s Lake, N.S.; grandchildren, Andrew and Patricia; along with sisters-in-law, Roberta Jordan, Jeannine Jordan and Shirley MacDonald.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kimball Ferguson, her husband, Gordon Spencer, her brothers, Sydney and Ralph and sister, Marjorie, as well as her sister, Ruth who died in childhood.
Since returning to Cape Breton, Evelyn enjoyed the company of good friends old and new, in particular, Lois, Evie, Tina, Anne Marie and Margie as well as her new friends at both Spruce Haven Drive and the manor.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
