It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Genevieve MacArthur (Matergio), 95, on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at the R.C. MacGillivary Guest Home.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Carol Anne (John) Rogers, Mississauga; her grandchildren, Matthew (Nancy) Rogers, Bridgewater, Tony Rogers, Mississauga; her great-grandson, Spencer Rogers, Bridgewater; her sister, Mary Wodoslawki, Sydney; her brother, Joe Matergio, Stittsville, Ont.; and her wonderful, amazing best friends, Al and Charlotte Rogers, Sydney. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Sr. Gen MacArthur, Sr. Helen MacArthur of the Sisters of St. Martha, Leone MacArthur, Sydney, Evelyn MacArthur, Halifax, Sally MacArthur, Sydney; along with many nieces and nephews.
Gena was predeceased by her husband, John Gerald ‘Gerry’ MacArthur, her parents, Caroline (Testa) and Anthony Matergio, brother, Peter Matergio.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
A special thank you to Fr. Rankin and the staff of R.C. MacGillivary Guest Home who took such great care of Gena during her stay and recent illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to R.C. MacGillivary Guest Home or the Parkinson Society of Canada.
