It is with sadness we announce the passing of Ross Murray Mitchell, 61, of Ellsworth Avenue, New Waterford, on Jan. 29, 2010, at home.
Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Chris and Margarettie (Ross) Mitchell.
Ross was a member of Calvin United Church, New Waterford. He was a coal miner for 32 years until his retirement. Ross was an avid outdoorsman who also enjoyed sports and in earlier years loved to play hockey.
Surviving are son, James (Julie), Pembroke, Ont; sisters, Debbie (Michael) MacKenzie, Joan (Bill) Ensinger, both of New Waterford; two grandchildren, Riley and Cassandra; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ross was predeceased by a sister, Gerri.
There will be no visitation. A private funeral service for immediate family members will be held at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
