Terry Wilson, 58, of Bruce Street, Glace Bay, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the QE II Hospital, Halifax.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Keith MacKay and the late Myrna (Wilson) MacKay.
In his earlier years, Terry was a bartender. He also worked underground and on the surface at Evan’s Coal Mines in St. Rose, Inverness County. At one time, Terry worked in the fish plant. The last 10 years he was employed mostly in the Edmonton area doing scaffolding with his Union Brothers, Local 1325.
Terry loved baseball and hockey, he was a big Leafs fan. He also coached and played. Terry loved life in general; he adored his family and friends. Terry was always there to lend a helping hand, share a joke or his great sense of humor and laughter and put a smile on everyone’s face. The friends he encountered during his time out west, he held dearly to his heart.
Terry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Roxanne (Janes) Wilson; one daughter, Nicole Wilcox (Terry); two sons, Terry Jr. and Cory (Samantha). Also surviving is Terry’s brother, Keith MacKay (Helen); sisters, Kathy MacDonald (Piper), Carol MacQuillan (Ramsay), Celeste MacKay (Donnie); grandchildren, Emilie, Hanah Blayre, Zachary, Katie and special little man, Devon. Terry is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and his special babies whom he played a major part in their lives, Tara, Denise (godchild), Ami, Courtney, Troy, Brittany, Terry-Lynn (S.H.), Caitlin, Brooke, Maddy, Lainey, Carter, Spencer and Aubrey. Also left to mourn his passing are is special uncle, Junior Wilson (Theresa), aunts, Camille ‘Sis’ McMullin (Joe), Trudy and Sheila (Ray).
Terry was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Marie Wilson, paternal grandparents, Bernie and Marion MacKay, uncles, John, George, Eddie, Calvin, Bernie, Cyril, Jigger and aunts, Madeline, Martha and Carol.
Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Vernon Reid is Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. All are invited to join the family for a reception in St. Mary’s Hall.
As an expression of sympathy for Terry, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation.
