Ronald Alexander Bonear, 74, of the Hub, Glace Bay, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Ronald was the son of the late Cornelius ‘Connie’ and Minnie (Young) Bonear.
Ronald worked in Ontario at various jobs then returned to Cape Breton to work in No. 26 Colliery. He loved camping, fishing, playing cards and shooting pool. Ronald was a member of the Hub Club. He was a very private and compassionate man.
He will be sadly missed by his companion, Colleen Sponagle and her children, Rose, Carol, Joe and their families. Ronald is also survived by his daughter, Louise, Ontario; two sons, Robert King, Sydney, Jeff Bonear, Ontario; and a sister, Alice (Ray) Jensen, Hamilton, Ontario. Ronald is survived by five grandchildren, Dustin, Kaitlyn, Devin, Adam and Christopher as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ronald was predeceased by four brothers, Lloyd, Gord, Fred, William, stepbrother, Rob, four stepsisters, Minnie, Nell, Annie and Olive.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. There will be no funeral mass; a private burial will be held in St. John’s Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Ronald, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Association of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice.
