Janet passed away March 7, 2013 in the Maritime Odd Fellows Home in Pictou.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Abby MacFarlane.
Janet and her late husband, Darrell K. Heighton lived a quiet life devoted to one another. Janet knew what it was to live in community, first in “The Valley” of her beloved Pictou and later in Lyons Brook. She worked as a bookkeeper. Janet practiced her faith in the Lyons Brook United Church and was a faithful member of Princess Rebekah Lodge #4, Pictou. A resident of the Maritime Odd Fellows Home for the past five years, she lived with dignity, respect, caring and compassion from Dr. Randy Burrill and the entire staff.
Janet is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Faye Williams, her husband, Bob, and their son, Kirk.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the Lyons Brook United Church prior to the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Monday March 11, 2013. A reception will follow in the hall. There will be a private burial in the Sea View Cemetery.
