It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Doris Hyde, age 78, of Reserve Street, Glace Bay, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Germaine (Vermish) Peterson.
She enjoyed TV, bingo and family card games.
Doris was a loving and caring person and will be missed by all.
Doris is survived by her loving husband, George Reginald Hyde; daughter, Janet Leigh (Hyde) MacDonald, Glace Bay; sons, Reginald (Rhona) and David (Annalee (Pace), both of Kitchener, Ont.; cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Brianna, Robert, Elena, Lisa, Tiffany and Crystal. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by a sister, Hazel, brothers, Earl and David.
Visitation for Doris Hyde will be held Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
Donations in Doris’ memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
