FITZGERALD, MIRIAM ABIGAIL - October 20, 1917 - March 7, 2013 - Miriam Abigail FitzGerald passed away suddenly on March 7, 2013 in Calgary, AB. She was a woman of unwavering faith. Her gentle spirit and enchanting smile warmed any room. A devoted caregiver to various family members, her legacy is her life of service. Her accepting and trusting spirit allowed her to enjoy living the last five years, in Calgary, with her cherished daughter Ann Marie. Florida, Brule Beach, Easter or Christmas jaunts, Miriam was always ready for another adventure. Her sparkling eyes would brighten for family and a decadent dessert. Miriam was born October 20, 1917 in New Glasgow, NS, to the late Daniel MacDonald and the late Sarah (Buckley) MacDonald. She is survived by her devoted daughter Ann Marie, nieces and nephews Mary Lou, John, Bob, Pauline, Gerry, Mary, Kathleen, cousin Maureen and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Jim and niece Pauline. She was also predeceased by her older sisters Helen and Norah. They were three beautiful, generous ladies. Also left to mourn are special friends Reverend Dan Stevenot, the Howlett and Roth families. They welcomed Miriam to her new western home with love, acceptance and friendship.
Visitation was held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Chapel of the Bells in Calgary on Sunday, March 10, 2013 and a funeral mass was celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Calgary on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will also be held at Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home 100 Waterloo Street, (634-1965) on Thursday March 14, 2013 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 12:10. from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
