John Daniel MacDonald of East Bay passed away March 8, 2013, in the Palliative Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional.
Born in Sydney, and son of Veronica and Alexander MacDonald.
John D. will be sadly missed as an essential part of the community — the Sydco oil man who could be called on at any time and get down or into anyone’s driveway; the school bus driver who went above and beyond many, many times; a protective brother; a loving husband; and a wonderful grandfather and father. He always welcomed anyone and everyone with a cup of tea and a story.
John D. is survived by his loving children, Zana, Ina, Keon, B.J., Terry and Trevor MacDonald; his sisters, Dorothy, Isabel, Helen, Roneta and Brenda; his brothers, Joe, Bobby and Brian; stepbrothers, Gus and John; and the grandchildren he adored, Ryan, JJ, Morgan, Chelsey, Breanna, Mason, Trace and Tye.
He was predeceased by his love, Autumn MacDonald, brother, Duncan MacDonald, and daughter, Baby Mary MacDonald.
Visitation for the late John D. MacDonald will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkveiw Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in East Bay at 11 a.m. March 13, 2013, Rev. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment in parish cemetery. There will be a tea and lunch immediately following at the East Bay fire hall.
