MARY JOSEPHINE (JOSIE) MACNEIL
MacNeil, Mary Josephine (Josie) – 67, of Truro, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Born on January 8th, 1946, in New Waterford, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late John Dan and Mary Ann (MacDonald) MacNeil. Josie volunteered for many clubs and service groups helping children and teenagers who needed support. She loved photography, music, dancing, making people laugh, and trips to Cape Breton. She is survived by her daughter, Denise (MacLean) Gallant (Robert) St. Nicholas, PEI; her granddaughter, Dawn MacLean (Aubrey Doucette) Summerside, PEI; and three great-grandsons, Tanner, Brayden, and Hunter; brother, Mike MacNeil (Dot) London, ON; sisters Caddie McCann (Earl Roper) Scarborough, ON; Dena MacLeod (Leo) Truro; sister-in-law, Annie MacNeil, Newbury, ON; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Josie was predeceased by her sisters Cecilia DeCoste, Elizabeth Doerksen, Irene MacDonald; brothers Daniel MacNeil and Ambrose MacNeil. Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 14th at 2:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any childrens’ charity.
