BURRIS, JOHN - 1933 - 2013 - John Burris, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at The Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the age of 79 after his courageous battles with cancer and kidney disease. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late George and Mary Burris. John was the last surviving member of his immediate family. John is survived by his children; Danny (May), Brenda, Nancy (Michael), Robert (Kim), Darrin (Kristel), grandchildren; Jeremy, Brendan, Justin, Tyson, Dylan, Courtney, Dallas, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents John was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Eileen, sister Betty, brother Don and by Princess his canine friend. John proudly served in the Korean war and was proud to be a hero. John was a well-known bartender at the Starlight Lounge, Air Force Vets Club and the City Club. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for the great care given to our dad during his journey.
As per John’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service, A private family interment will take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. As your expression of sympathy memorial donations to The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
