ALLAN JOHN TAYLOR

ALLAN JOHN TAYLOR

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Allan John Taylor, 92, on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Shorncliffe Care Facility in Sechelt following a brief illness.
He leaves many nieces and nephews in addition to grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Predeceased by his sister Elizabeth and brothers Donald and Douglas.
Born and raised in southern Saskatchewan, the son of Allan Taylor Sr. and Elizabeth, he was a long-time resident of the Sunshine Coast.
In his early years, Al worked alongside his father and his brother Donald as a carpenter during the lean years of the Great Depression. In 1941, he enlisted in the Canadian Army and was sent overseas for the duration of World War II. After the war, Al worked in several BC locations as a carpenter, spending much of his working life in Cassiar before retiring to live in his beloved Roberts Creek.
Al had a very gentle disposition and was popular on the Coast. He could often be seen socializing with friends and playing Keno with passion.
A special thank you the staff at Shorncliffe for the deep and dignified care shown to our beloved “Uncle Al”.
A celebration of Al’s life will take place at the Sechelt Legion on Saturday, March 30, 2013, from 1 to 4pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be forwarded to the Royal Canadian Legion - Sechelt Branch.
