EDWARD SOBCHAK
Date de décès : 10 mars 2013
Ed departed this world Sunday, March 10th, 2013 after a brief but brave battle with Cancer at 76 years.
He will be very fondly remembered by his family and many friends as a quiet, generous, strong man, who's being contained no evil. He was born in BC's Peace River District, moved with his family to Brantford, Ontario at an early age where he completed his education, and then to Kamloops in the 1950's.
His original employment was in the bush with Frolek Sawmills, as a trainman with the CNR, then serving an electrical apprenticeship with The Giddens Company, completing his career in 2005 after many years with BC Hydro. After retirement he continued to do electrical jobs large and small for his friends, for which he would accept no compensation.
Edward was first a family man, after which came his love of the outdoors and many adventures with his long time Kamloops companions. He was an active tennis player, a member of the Kamloops Trap & Skeet Club, Heffley Gun Club, Rivershore Golf Club, a SunPeaks season pass holder, last on the slopes in January 2013. He was always up for a golf game, a duck hunt, fishing expeditions, or exploring the area's rivers, lakes, and hills.
The youngest of six children, he leaves his daughter Kim (Casey) and their three children in Calgary, his brothers Stan of Vancouver, Al of Kamloops, and John of Ontario, and sisters Bernice and Kay, also of Ontario, nieces and nephews in Kamloops, Kelowna, and Ontario, and his loving companion Angie and her family in Kamloops.
There will be no service, but Ed has requested "a gathering for the boys, to lift a glass on a sunny warm day near the water, this summer".
So long Ed, good father, grandfather, and good friend. We will all miss you, and cherish your memory and the many good times to the end of our own days! It has been a blast!!
Rest in Peace.
Many thanks to the good folks at the Marjorie Willoughby Hospice for Ed's excellent care, and the compassion of the wonderful staff in his last days.
Donations in Ed's memory may be made to this fine facility.
