Hanna passed away suddenly at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 10, 2013.
Hanna was born Aug. 28, 1938, in Bruchhausen, Germany, daughter of the late Bernhard and Johanna (Schulte) Berenfanger.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Josef Schombara; sisters, Mechtild (Alfons) Schroer and Magdalena Frieling; daughter, Eveline (Richard) Walsh; grandchildren, Keri-Ann, Krista, Adam, Cristina and Jarrett; and great-grandson, Zachery.
Apart from her parents she was predeceased by brothers, Heinricht, August, Adi and Bernhard, sisters, Ingrid and Marlies, son, Martin and daughter, Kornelia ‘Connie’.
Our family would like to thank her many good friends for their support and companionship over the years.
Hanna immigrated to Canada with her family on May 19, 1963. She worked at St. Rita’s Hospital, Sydney, and the Donut Queen, Sydney River. She also volunteered at the MacGillivray Guest Home for a number of years and later became a resident herself in May 2011. In her pastime she enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and word search.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Hanna may be made to a charity of your choice.
