Passed peacefully away at the age of 78 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on March 12th, 2013. It brings us extreme sadness to announce the passing of a such great man and caring role model to his children. Predeceased by his loving daughter Yvonne, who went missing over 10 years ago, his parents William and Mary King, his brothers Jack, Bill, Pat, Mike, Jim, Tom, his sisters Jean and Elizabeth. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 52 years Christina (Mary); his children: Tony (Geraldine), Terry (Mai), Anita Julie (Tony), Juanita (Alan), Gerry (Diane), Trevor (Gillian); 18 grandchildren: (Chris, Chantelle, Ian, Shannon, Eugene, Gregory, Kirk, Aaron, Jeffrey, Curtis, Theresa, Tyler, Noah, Jacob, Adam, Marcus, Emma, Liam); one great-grandchild (Hunter); his sisters: Nellie, Mary, Rita, Selina; and his brother: Leonard. A large circle of family and friends, many nieces and nephews for whom he cared so deeply. Gerald was a very quiet, gentle man who touched the lives of many. Those who knew him, recognized just how compassionate a person he was. He spent his life ensuring the needs of all those around him were met. He was a proud man, and one we are very happy to have had in our life. He was a great leader, a hard worker and a person to turn to in times of need. Gerald, may you finally enjoy the eternal rest you so deserve. Resting at Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation on Wednesday, March 13, from 2-9 p.m. and Thursday, March 14th, from 2-9 p.m. Funeral will take place at the Roman Catholic Church in Fox Harbour at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15th.
