It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother and friend, Kenneth Dan MacDonald on Thursday, March 14, 2013, in the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay on Nov. 24, 1939, he was the son of the late Angus ‘Hamish’ and Donalda (MacDonald) MacDonald, formerly of Loch Lomond.
Ken worked at the Isle Royal Hotel, Holiday Inn, Cape Breton Chrysler and Canadian Citizenship and Immigration. He was a member of Loch Lomond United Church, serving as an elder and clerk of session and was also an adherent of St. Andrew’s United Church, Sydney. Ken was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, serving as Past Master of St. Andrew’s Lodge, Past District Deputy and Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia, Cape Breton District. He also was a member of the Prince of Wales, Chapter #10, the Cape Breton Preceptory #43, and Philae Temple, Halifax and Cape Breton Shriners Clubs. A member of the Town & Country Square Dancing Club, Ken travelled to many communities to enjoy dancing.
