It is with sadness that the family of Zelda Reva (Gillman) Yazer announces her passing on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010.
She was born on Dec. 24,1922, in Sherbrooke, Que. After graduating from high school, she taught at O’Sullivan’s Business College, in charge of the French Department business courses.
She met and married her husband Jack in 1943. They began their married life in Sydney Mines, later moving to Sydney. She was a devoted mother, busy raising four children. Over the years, she taught French, was involved with the Temple Sons of Israel, Hadassah Wizo, and volunteered with the Help Line.
She was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Zelda is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Jack Yazer; children, Harold (Myrna), Brendon (Michelle), Celia and Karin (Tony); grandchildren, Murray (Julie), Joanne, Joseph, Erika, Jonathan, David, Michael and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Alex and Miriam; brother, Sam Gillman and sister, Lewina Hendler.
She was predeceased by her parents, Abraham and Celia (Weinstein) Gillman and her stepmother, Hilda Green.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4 at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Burial to follow at the Hebrew Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Jackson and all the staff of the Cove Guest Home for their exceptional care.
A reception will be held Friday, Feb 5 from 1-4 p.m. at the Cambridge Suites.
