H. Norman Ellis passed away on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010 at The Centennial Villa, Amherst.
Born in Amherst, October 26th, 1924, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Walker) Ellis. A Veteran of the Second World War, Norman served with the RCAF. Active in Little League Baseball and Minor Hockey, he was a former President of The Amherst Minor Hockey Association, The Nova Scotia Minor Hockey Association, and an Executive Member of the Air Force Veterans Club.
Norman is survived by his wife Muriel Flavia (Wheaton), sons Bob Ellis (Theresa), Terry Ellis (Denise) of Hamilton, daughter Betty Tower (Leonard), grandchildren; Gillian, Daniel, Stephen, Beth, Eryn and Mitchell, great grandchildren; Mason, Hannah, Ethan, Madelaine, and Austyn, several nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Bob Wheaton and sister-in-law Frances Hicks. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Bill Ellis (Jean), John Ellis (Vi) and a sister Edith McManaman (Basil).
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5th, from 7-9 pm in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. The Funeral service followed by a reception will be held on Saturday,February 6th, 2010 at 11:00 am in Campbell's Funeral Home.
Interment in The Amherst Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations in memory of Norman may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, The Royal Canadian Legion, Amherst Branch # 10, or a memorial of the donor's choice.
