Trudie Nette

Lieu de naissance : Holland, Pays-Bas
Date de naissance : 6 mars 1920

Date de décès : 14 mars 2013

NETTE, Trudie, 93, left this world surrounded by the love of her family on March 14th, 2013 in Grand View Manor, Berwick, NS. She was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Clasina Mooy. The eldest of ten children, Trudie was born in Amsterdam, Holland on March 6th, 1920. In 1938, at the age of 18, her family emigrated to begin rural life in Weston, Nova Scotia. Shortly after, she attended nursing school in Montreal where, as a volunteer with the Red Cross during WWII, she met Leen, an Officer in the Dutch Merchant Navy. Following their marriage in 1943, Trudie and Leen purchased a farm adjacent to her parents in Weston. She had the privilege of delivering her youngest sister, Maria, at her mother’s home, as the doctor did not arrive in time. Trudie and Leen raised eight children and opened their home to countless gatherings of family, friends and neighbours. Happiest when her home was filled with laughter and fellowship, Trudie ensured her table was laden with the fruits of her labours. She was a fabulous cook, a natural gardener and took great pride in her home and children. As her family grew, Trudie returned to part time nursing at the WKM Hospital in Berwick and later worked as Assistant Activity Director at Grand View Manor, retiring at 72 years of age. In 1994, after 51 years on the farm in Weston, Trudie and Leen sold and moved to Berwick where their home continued to welcome an ever expanding family and friends, and where they remained involved in the community. Throughout her life Trudie was devoted to her faith and she and Leen were dedicated members of St Anthonys Catholic Parish, Berwick. A passionate, funny and wise person, she was never happier than when she was bouncing a baby on her knee. Her positive outlook and generous nature touched the hearts of all and she will be forever loved and missed. Even in her final weeks she made those gathered around her bed smile and laugh. Trudie was predeceased in 1999 by Leen, her devoted husband of 56 years; in 1974 by daughter Daphne and in 2012 by son Alan. She was also predeceased by sister Gardy Killam and brothers Jack and Casey. She is survived by her beloved children Klazenia Pemberton, Berwick; Veronica (Cliff) MacDonald, White Rock, BC; Adrian (Sally O’Grady), Annapolis Royal; Tony (Marjorie), Morristown; Andrew (Linda), Port Williams and Corliss (Pat) McCloskey, Bedford; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Connie (Jan) Cook, Dora (Mike) Best, Ann (Alfred) Laing, Ena (the late Jerry) Pineo, Hettie (Eddie) Mooy-Nichols, Maria (Walter) Burke and sisters in law Carol (Frank) Woodworth and Adri Nette. The family wishes to offer their sincere thanks to the dedicated staff of Grand View Manor for their kindness, care and compassion extended not only to Trudie but to the entire family. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, March 22nd, 2013 at 2pm in St Anthonys Church, Mill St, Berwick followed by a time of fellowship in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Trudie’s memory may be made to the Berwick Food bank or charity of choice.
