Annie Beatrice Baillie
CHANCE HARBOUR – It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Annie Beatrice Baillie, 78, Chance Harbour on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born on December 6, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Charles William and Mary Olive (Fraser) Barnett.
She had been employed as a department head with Zellers, downtown New Glasgow store for several years and then was employed, until retirement, with Mason Denture Clinic, New Glasgow, where she became the first licensed female denturist in Nova Scotia. Annie was a member of First United Church, Trenton, former Sunday school teacher, leader with the Hillside Girls Club and Hillside Scouts. A gifted homemaker, she was the cornerstone of her family, for whom she could not do enough. She was an avid craftsperson, who enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing and painting. She welcomed visitors to her home, more the better! The teapot was always on and there was usually a selection of fresh baked delights. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great source of happiness. Visits from grandchildren: MacKinlay, Morgan and James, great-grandchildren: Aidan, Avery, Josie, John, Ethan and Emily, who lived close enough to visit, were cherished. Annie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Surviving are her loving husband and best friend of 61 years, John George Baillie; daughters, Mary (Simon) MacDonald, Pictou Landing; Laura (Donald) Trowell, Trenton; sons: John James (Debbie), Thompson (Rose), Charlie (Yvonne) and Robert (Carla), all of Chance Harbour; sisters: Shirley (Gordon) Kellock, Chance Harbour; Alice MacKenzie and Patsy Cook, Trenton; Doris Worthen, Ontario; brothers: Fraser, New Glasgow; George (Peggy), Trenton; Kenneth, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters: Marcella MacLean, Jean MacLean, Marie Keough; brothers: Willard, James and Douglas.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
