Passed peacefully away on Friday, March 22, 2013, Rita Shirley (Parsons) Lewis, age 81. Shirley, a former schoolteacher, was originally from Lumsden and the only child of the late Simeon and Marjorie (Robbins) Parsons. She is predeceased by her husband, Lester G. Lewis. Leaving us with fond and loving memories are her step-children: David Lewis (Ivy), Marilyn Adams (Gordon), Lloyd Lewis (Betty), John Lewis (Reiko), Linda Burry (Keith), Stephen Lewis and Douglas Lewis; her step-grandchildren: Michael Lewis (Amelie), Nancy Lewis (Marc), Pamela Hillyer, Jennifer Adams, Andrew Burry (Ashlynn), Gillian Burry, Darian Lewis and her step great-grandchildren: Jordan, Alexander and Emma Hillyer. Also her uncle, Cyril Robbins, her loving cousin and Scrabble partner, Verna Parsons and many other special cousins of the Robbins and Parsons families. A sincere thank you for the care and concern provided by the professional staff of Kenny’s Pond Retirement Residence during Shirley’s stay there. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday, March 26th, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, March 27th 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at St. James United Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 28th, 2013 interment to follow at Mt.
