Currie, Robert M. “Mel” – 83, of Five Islands passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Five Islands, he was a son of the late Robert Myles and Maude (Wadman) Currie. He served with Canadian Armed Forces (REME) for several years, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, the former Pauline Copp; daughters, Mary Currie (Merton Lewis), St. Stephen, N.B.; Edna Strong (Gordon), Parrsboro; Lynn Forbes (Donald), Halifax; Dale Currie (Peter Richardson), Halifax; sons, Neil, Bass River; Dean (Ruth Winch), Truro; step-son, William Copp, Truro; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur. Visitation 12 - 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where service will follow at 2 p.m., Rev. Greg Doyle officiating.
