It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother “Reta” on Saturday, March 23, 2013. She had been in poor health for some time.
Born in Montague, PE, on July 5, 1924, to William and Lucy (Cassidy) Rice, she was the wife of the late Ira Murphy.
Life threw a lot at Mom but she managed with ingenuity, tenacity, strength and grace. Mom will be missed by her children Sheila (Ken deceased), David (Ginny), Sharon (Todd) Mitton, Peter (Tascha) and her grandchildren Michael, Sarah, Alan, Jessica, Dhanielle, Jonah and Samantha. Sisters-in-law Evelyn McGillivray, Dorothy Murphy, Margaret Gooding and Marion Lanigan.
Predeceased by parents William and Lucy, brother Charles, twins; Harold and Beatrice, her husband Ira and sons Paul and John.
Resting at Ferguson-Logan Montague Funeral Home where visiting will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, Sturgeon. Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery following Mass.
Memorial donations to the St. Paul’s Cemetery or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by her family.
