It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Allan Nelson was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on October 4, 1929. He passed suddenly on February 3, 2010. Allan was member of Canadian Armed Forces RCEME from 1958 to 1963 worked in peace keeping including a tour of duty in Germany. Allan enjoyed many different team sports including hockey, baseball and curling. Allan and Addeline with their sons came to Prince Albert in 1968 from Prince Rupert B.C. to work for the Prince Albert Pulp Mill where he worked as a Stationary Engineer until retirement from Weyerheauser. He enjoyed family and friends, spending time at the cabin (Dore Lake) as well as fishing and hunting. He spent years of his life as an organizer of curling events and was the president of the Prince Albert Pulp Curling League for a ten year period. He will be missed and mourned by his loving wife Addeline; his daughter Patricia (Ted) Henson of Hixon, BC and grandchildren Kevin and Sonya; his son Michael (Brenda) Nelson and grandchildren Eric and Hudson of Prince Albert; his son James Nelson (Laura) of Saskatoon; his sister Lois (Frank) Baker; nephew Kirby (Tina) and family of Regina, SK; his grandson Jamie Nelson of B.C. and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Eric and Evelyn Nelson; one son Kim Nelson; one sister Marilyn and three brothers-in-law Don Sawatsky, Michael Niles and Lloyd Niles. Funeral Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Grays Funeral Chapel, 575 - 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Avonda McKay officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 12013, Stn BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 2L3. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Lisa Bos, Funeral Director.
