William Comeau
COMEAU, WILLIAM "BILL" - November 24, 1927 - March 24, 2013 - William Mayes "Bill" Comeau, passed peacefully away at Maplestone Enhanced Care, Halifax in his 86th year. Known by friends and family as Moose, Bill was the seventh of nine children of the late Joseph and Mildred (Hughes) Comeau of Saint John, NB. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 30 years and truly treasured his time at sea, resulting in a lifelong love for the Ocean. Thankful for their loving years together and left with beautiful memories, is his loving wife, Sheila Comeau, of Bedford. Bill will also be dearly missed by his son Andre (Arlene); step daughters Jennifer Burrell (Bruce), Calgary; and Bernadette Duffett and step grandson Eric Duffett, St. John's; as well as grandchildren Kayleigh and Clark Gildart. He will also be remembered by his only remaining sibling, his brother Warren (May), Saint John, NB; his sister-in-law Sheila Comeau (Earl), Ontario; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives, as well as close friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Papa Joe; first wife, Sylvia (Haverstock); daughter Marjorie Gildart; and his siblings, Hilton (Marion), Rita Monk (Jack), Vivian Lovette (Eddy), Arthur (Marion), Earl (Sheila), Lawrence (Grace) and Marjorie. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the nurses and staff of Maplestone Enhanced Care, most especially to Dr. Costa Apostolides, Chris, Sharon, Jennifer, Marlene, Annie, and Judy for the exceptional care that Bill received.
There will be no visitation, as per Bill's wishes. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 28th at 2:00 pm from St. Ignatius Church, Bedford (Bedford Highway at Rutledge Street), followed by burial at sea. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory can be made to: the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to J. A.
