At Halifax Infirmary on Thursday, June 26, 2008, of Gerard Aylward of Tarantum, age 58 years. Beloved husband of Rita Aylward (nee Cummiskey) and loving father of John and Kevin (Crystal White). Gerard is also survived by his sisters, Isabel Myers (Leonard), Patricia MacKinnon (Roger) and Claire Aylward; brothers Emmet Aylward (Diane) and Joseph Aylward (Sherrie); mother-in-law Mildred Cummiskey; uncle Bill Aylward (Elizabeth); aunt Teresa MacGillivray and numerous nieces, nephews and brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Matilda (nee MacDonald) Aylward; sister Eileen Marie Aylward (in infancy), brother Donnie Aylward, father-in-law James Cummiskey and brother-in-law Paul Douglas. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford, for visitation on Monday, June 30, 2008, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 1, at St. Patrick’s Church, Fort Augustus, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot at the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to St. Patrick’s Parish Debt Reduction Fund or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
