GRAHAM McLAREN

GRAHAM McLAREN

Date de naissance : 7 avril 1926

Date de décès : 24 mars 2013

Graham "Scottie" McLaren, at 86 years, peacefully passed away at Overlander Extended Care in Kamloops. Born in Causewayhead, Scotland, Graham immigrated to Penticton in 1954 and for the past 49 years called Kamloops home.

Graham was predeceased by his wife Betsy (nee Hourston from Orkney), brothers Bill, Jim and Rab, and sisters May Phillips and Cath McNiven. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Diane O'Neill (Kamloops), Heather McLaren (Philadelphia), and son Graham McLaren (Calgary), his twin sister Bette Imrie (Stirling), brothers Jock (Calgary), Tom (Penticton), three grandchildren Tracy, Lauren and Michael and three great-grandchildren Lorenzo, Orianna, and Dominic.

A master at his craft, Graham was a fine "old school" plasterer who loved his trade, working well into his 70s. A proud, fighting "Scot," Graham served on British minesweepers in WWII. The "life of the party," Graham was feisty, fun and a favorite whether on a construction project, soccer field, cheering on Manchester United and the Blazers, or sharing a pint at one of his favorite pubs. He enjoyed a rousing game of dominos and walks with his family. Always willing and whenever able, Graham volunteered at local sports events. "Scottie" blew life into everything he did.

Dad, granddad, great granddad, brother, friend, we can see that perpetual gleam in your eye and smile on your jokester face as you "climb" the last of the 246 steps to the top of your beloved Wallace Monument in Stirling, Scotland. Breathe in your favorite views
from Abby Craig Hill to the
southern highlandsÖforever.
Forever, your family and friends
will love and miss you.

A special thank you to the Evergreen staff of the Overlander who cared for "Scottie."

No service or flowers by request. Donations can be sent in Graham's name to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 52, Kamloops.

On April 7th, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., friends and family are welcome to gather with us to drink a few pints in his honour at the Inlander Pub in Valleyview.

A private Celebration of Graham's life will be held this August.
