It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Debbie Ann Gillis, 52, of Hinchey Avenue, New Waterford on March 26, 2013, at the New Waterford Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of Norma (McDonald) and the late Dougie Hurley.
Debbie was a member of St. Leonard's parish, New Waterford. She was employed with Speigel Group Tele Services in New Waterford for a few years. Debbie enjoyed playing darts, bingo, bowling with her team, and taking pictures and videos. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and many pets she had over the years. Debbie was an outgoing and happy person who would frequently attend functions within the community. She was well liked and will be missed by all.
Surviving are her mother, Norma; companion, Bradley Ruelland, New Waterford; daughter, Nicole Gillis (Eric Gallant), Sydney; son, Lloyd Gillis (Rachael Gould), Alberta; grandchildren, Brendon, Sara and Michael; brothers-in-law, Danny, Raymond and Robert; sisters-in-law, Shauna and Rebecca; 'sister-cousin', Simone Campbell.
Debbie was predeceased by her father, Dougie Hurley; husband, Lloyd Gillis and brother, Joseph, in infancy.
There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Liturgy of the Word will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
