Mina Philpitt
PHILPITT, MINA - Mina Esther Ruth Philpitt, wife of the late Stanley “Chick” Philpitt passed away at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in Canso, Nova Scotia. Mina was the daughter of the late Donald Edward and Laura (Jarvis) Morris. She lived in West Saint John most of her life. Mina was a member of the Carleton Kirk United Church. She worked in retail stores in city and West side then retired when MRA closed. Surviving are two daughters: Ruth (Bill) Lane, of Kingston N.B. and Margaret “Maggie” Cunningham of West Saint John; five grandsons: Stanley (Sylvia) Lane of Dartmouth, Sean (Erica) Lane of West Saint John, Matthew (Monika) Lane of Kingston N.B., Nicholas (Melissa) Cunningham of Alberta, and Christian (Erin) Cunningham of Miramachi; one granddaughter: Laura Cunningham of Halifax; nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Also survived by three sisters in law: Lelia Morris and Helen Morris, both of West Saint John and Bertha Philpitt of Halifax. Mina was predeceased by three brothers: Dick Morris, Tom Morris and Josh Morris as well as one sister Margaret Smith.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home (Fallsview Chapel), 309 Lancaster Ave. With visitation on Saturday 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday April 1, 2013 from Fallsview Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Donations to Bobby’s Hospice or your charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
