Wood Jennings, Enid Frances Margaret Dobson – 86, Ocean View Manor, formerly of Amherst and Truro, passed away peacefully February 4, 2010 after a battle with Alzheimer's disease that spanned almost two decades.
Enid was born in Moosomin, Sask., a daughter of the late Edward Blake & Jessie (Clarke) Dobson. She was the loving, devoted wife of her first husband, the late Reverend Laurie Albert Wood, mother of Leslie (Dawn), Head of Jeddore, David (Jane), Amherst, June, Lake Echo, Margaret (Paul) of Halifax; grandmother of Michelle (Greg), Michael, Jeffrey, Andrew, Beth, Ellen; great-grandmother of Adam, Cameron, Ewan; and wife of her second husband, the late Reverend Douglas Reid Jennings; step-mother of David, Rebecca, Andrew, Christopher; grandmother of Austin, Eli, Walker, Ariadne and Aine. Enid is also survived by her brother, Vincent (Dorothy), sister-in-law, Eunice. She was predeceased by her siblings, Wesley (Winnie), Lloyd, Edna (Sigfried), and Beatrice.
Enid will be remembered for the love and dedication she showed for the ones she cared about in life – her family and friends. She will also be fondly remembered for her gift of hospitality, her love of music and travel, her strong sense of values, and her belief system, which never faltered. She will be missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of family and friends.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place Saturday, February 27th at 1:00 p.m. in Trinity St. Stephen's United Church, Amherst, Reverend Vincent Ihasz officiating. A reception will follow in Heartz Hall. Committal will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society or a charity of choice.
