It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the passing of John Munroe MacDonald at the Strait Richmond Hospital on Saturday, March 30, 2013.
Born in Glace Bay, N.S., June 1, 1944, John was the son of the late John William and Ida Mae (Brown) MacDonald.
John served in the Royal Canadian Army, a member of RCEME until his retirement then relocated to Disney, Oklahoma, and returned to his Cape Breton home several years later. John spent many years doing cabinetry and carpentry work which he enjoyed.
John is survived by his wife , Patricia; daughters, Melanie Ann Cacek, New Castle, Wyoming; granddaughters, Kerry E. Waite, New Castle, Wyoming, Dene Jones, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Danielle McMichael, New Orleans, Beth Millian, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Hannah Millan, University of Wisconsin; one grandson, Austin P. Berube, Windsor, Missouri; and a great-grandson, Aeson Michael, New Orleans, La.; brother, George (Joanne) MacDonald, Glace Bay; sister, Syliva Matheson, Albert Bridge; and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by daughter, Marjorie Ruth Belk, Windsor, Missouri.
John was well loved and his great cooking will be missed by his many, many friends.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service by request.
