The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, June 30, 2008, of Hilda Gallant of Charlottetown and formerly of Oyster Bed Bridge, age 87 years. Hilda was the beloved wife of the late Alvin Gallant and cherished mother of Betty (Sterling) Doucette, Ronnie (Della), Bernie (Selina) and Francis (Geneva Tuttle); grandmother of Erwin (Jacqueline), Dwight (Tasha Herrell) and Darcy Doucette; Dwayne (Cindy) Gallant; and Craig and Ryan Rout-Gallant; and great-grandmother of Kelsee, Sterling and Addison. She is also survived by brothers Thomas and Edmund; sisters, Bernice and Pauline; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, Hilda was predeceased by her parents, Benoit and Agnes Doucette; her step-mother, Caroline; her grandson, Darren; brothers, Maurice, Cornelius, Augustin, Joe and Jerry; and her sisters, Millie, Priscilla and Angie. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 6:30-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico, Thursday, July 3, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
