It’s with saddened hearts we announce the passing of Dolena Ann Matheson, March 31, 2013, at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Baddeck N.S., she was the daughter of the late C.D. and Christie (MacLennan) MacRae.
She was the Presiding Worthy Matron of Victoria chapter OES, Baddeck, Past Matron, Dr. Gordon MacLeod chapter Port Hawkesbury. She was also a member of Victoria County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a board member of the C.B. Regional Housing Authority.
In earlier days she taught school, was a homemaker and had always been an active member of the communities she has lived in. Dolena will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her good friend Frida Hansen.
She is survived by two sons Kevin, London Ont., Cameron, Sydney; three daughters, Barbara (Joe) MacInnis, Brenda, both of Sydney, Lillian (Bob) Street, Crestview, Fla.; one sister, Maudie (Roy) Haley, Windsor, N.S.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Desiree, Ceilidh, Brandy, Matthew, Justin, Christie, Mary and James; great-grandchildren, Camryn, Benjamin and Rachael. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, Dolena was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth MacRae.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at McAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck, from 1-2 p.m., Wednesday April 3, with a memorial service to follow, Rev. Louis Ihasz officiating. Reception at the Knox Presbyterian Church Hall.
