Marion R. Francis
Marion R. Francis, 76, of Windsor Locks, CT, beloved wife of Arnold E. Francis, died Saturday, March 30, 2013.
Born in Prince Edward Island, daughter of the late George and Hazel (Dougherty) Parker, she was raised there and lived in Windsor, CT, for many years moving to Windsor Locks, CT, 14 years ago. She was employed over 20 years at the Stop & Shop in Enfield, CT, where she was affectionately known as the "Cheese Doctor". She was employed at the former John Fitch Elementary School with their food service program and volunteered for many years with the American Red Cross. Marion loved gardening, dolls, bird watching and ceramics and was an avid tournament bowler.
Besides her husband Arnold, to whom she was married 60 years today (April 1), she leaves three daughters, B. Sharon LaFrancis and her husband Michael of Windsor, CT, Robin Francis Bates of Bloomfield, CT, and Sheila R. Francis of Farmington, CT; two grandchildren, Michael R. LaFrancis and Jeffrey J. LaFrancis; two sisters, Doris Clow of Stoneham, MA, and Shirley Smith of P.E.I., Canada; and a brother, John Parker of P.E.I., Canada. She was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Dow and Jean MacPhail.
Her family will receive friends Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, CT. Marion's funeral service will be Thursday, April 4, 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 180 Park Avenue, Windsor, CT. The Rev. John R. Gerlach, Pastor will officiate. A reception will follow the service at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Marion's family would like to thank the trauma team, including, doctors, nurses, and chaplain at Hartford Hospital for their compassionate care.
