It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Moira Irene Jobe, on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her family by her side, after a long and courageous battle with illness.
Born in Sydney Mines on Dec. 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Evelyn (Read) Ash.
Moira met the love of her life Gordon Lawrence Jobe, in Sydney Mines, and married him in 1955. They were joined for 50 years before she lost her Prince. They were stationed in Winnipeg, Man., Iserlohn, Germany and Oromocto, N.B. Moira worked for many years with the Department of National Defence until her retirement in 1992. Once retired, they made their way back home to Sydney Mines.
Moira had many accomplishments in her life, but in her mind her greatest were her three daughters. She was always the “rock†in their lives, supporting them in every way possible. Moira had a heart of gold and always put others ahead of herself, no matter what the situation.
Moira leaves behind her daughters, Juanita Jobe (Mike Gouthro), Sydney Mines, Ann Jobe, at home and Wendy (Danny) Hamilton, Brandon, Man. She also leaves her grandchildren, David and Sarah Bigger, Nelson, Christopher and Meagan Hamilton, that she treasured with all her heart; brothers, Enos Ash and Kenneth Ash; special great-nephew, John Young; aunts, Winnifred McRae and Annie Ash; special cousin, Ruth Dawe-Rideout, who was like a sister to her, and several close nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
Her family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for all their special care and tenderness that was given to Moira during her stay there.
A memorial service to celebrate Moira’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at 2 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, with Pastor Lloyd Steeves officiating. A reception will follow the service at St. Pius X Hall, Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Moira’s memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at jmjobesfuneralhome@ns.aliantzinc.ca.
