Passed away peacefully at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Monday, February 8, 2010, Gertrude Bailey, aged 85 years. Predeceased by her husband Herbert Bailey, parents Gus and Minnie Andrews; sisters: Grace May, Murtle Heille, Mildred Andrews; brothers: Enoch, Gus, Harold and Lar. Leaving to mourn with cherished memories daughter Dianne; sons: Wayne, Gus (Sheila), Vic (Kathy), Paul (Lisa), Doug (Susan), Terry (Chris); beloved grandchildren: Richard (Catherine), Jennifer (Mark), Steven (Doug), Krista (Paul), David (Ashley), Alison, Angela, Scott (Lori) and Noah; cherished great-grandchildren: Emma, Abigail, Aidan, Liam and Sophie; sister Phyllis Fisher, Niagara Falls; brothers Fred (Leona), Toronto and Jim (Joy), Goulds; sisters-in-law: Mildred Bailey, St. John’s and Ella Johnson, New Zealand; as well as nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Gert was a proud and devoted member and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 1, Blackmarsh Road as well as the Ladies Auxiliary. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of 6th west, 7 west, CCU and the staff of St. Luke’s Adult Day Care Program. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s with visitation on Wednesday, February 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, February 11th from 10-12 p.m., 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. from Gower St. United Church with internment to follow at the Field of Honor, Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
