It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, wish to announce the passing of Melvin Joseph McNabb on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay and a life long resident of Reserve Mines, Melvin was the son of Cecilia (MacDougall) McNabb and the late Daniel McNabb.
Melvin was a carpenter by trade and in his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a very private and quiet man.
Besides his mother, Melvin is survived by four sisters, Beverly (Keith) Doiron, Theresa (Frank) Reade, Corinne (Randy) McKiel, all of New Brunswick, Aileen (Nick) MacDonald, Lower Sackville; one brother, Sheldon (Jolene), Reserve Mines, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his father, Melvin was predeceased by his brother, Sandy.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A private service will be held in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Melvin, memorial donations in his memory may be made to palliative care or the V.O.N.
