RUDOLF "RUDI" LEONHARD LAMBERT
Rudolf “Rudi” Leonhard Lambert left this world to be with his Father in Heaven on April 1, 2013.
Born February 28, 1928 in Germany as the second of five children to Heinrich and Margareta Lambert, Rudi immigrated to Canada in 1951 and received his Canadian citizenship in 1957.
He learned milling from his grandfather in Germany and spent much of his early childhood at the family lumber mill. He received his carpentry certificate there, which was later re-certified in Canada.
His early years in Canada were spent in Tahsis on Vancouver Island. There his love of photography blossomed and he opened Red and Rudi’s Photo Shop with a partner from his hometown of Gernsheim.
In 1967 he met and married his beautiful wife Myra Bower and in 1969 they welcomed their only daughter Anna Maria.
Rudi worked at a total of three lumber mills in the lower mainland before retiring in 1988.
He had a love of traveling and visited Italy and the Holy Land. He also enjoyed visiting family often in Nova Scotia and Germany.
A staunch Catholic, Rudi lived and died in the Faith and will be missed greatly by those who loved him until they meet again in Heaven.
Rudi leaves behind his daughter Anna Maria and granddaughter Andromeda Tahraesa as well as his sister Emma and extended family in Germany.
Rudi is pre-deceased by his father and mother, sister Maria, older brother Alfred and younger brother Emil, as well as his wife Myra who went to be with the Lord in 2000.
His memorial mass was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on April 5.
Rudi will be laid to rest beside his beloved Myra at Seaview Cemetery in Gibsons.
