Callum David Russell MacLean, 15, sailed away from us peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, surrounded by his family.Left on the shore to remember him forever are his mother, Nancy, beloved brother, Tristan, and father, Rob. He will be greatly missed by grandparents, Betty and Dave and Papa and Baba Coach. Callum will always be remembered by Andy and Anne, Jamie and Cheryl, John and Veneisha and Jodi and Bill. And what a group of cousins! Pierce, Cameron and Stewart, and Owen and Rudi. Callum will also be missed by Shelley and Patrick, Molly, Ozzie and Salem... and his wild and crazy kitten, Penny.Callum will always be remembered by his friends from Island Montessori Academy, Glen Stewart School, Stonepark Intermediate and Charlottetown Rural, by the Junior Sailors at the Charlottetown Yacht Club, teammates from Pownal Minor Hockey, Stratford Soccer and the P.E.I. Bantam Privateers. He was a member of the Stonepark and Charlottetown Rural bands and the junior choir at Park Royal United. And he spent treasured birthdays at the family's beloved cottage on the Ottawa River.Callum's family thanks everyone who supported us through this difficult time. A special thank you to Holly and Charlie, Dr. Peggy Bethune and everyone in QEH Pediatrics, the Oncology team at the IWK, and the Palliative Care group on P.E.I. You are all amazing at what you do.A Celebration of Callum's life will be held at Glen Stewart Primary School in Stratford on Friday, April 12 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Callum's family welcomes you and your families, and especially his and Tristan's friends, to come and share your memories. The funeral will be at Park Royal United Church on Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m., followed by a reception in the gymnasium. All are welcome.In Callum's honour, his family and friends are launching an ongoing awareness campaign about pediatric cancer.
