JEAN MARY BAIRD

Date de naissance : 9 mai 1923

Date de décès : 5 avril 2013

Jean Baird passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Hamlets in Westsyde.

Mom was born on the farm near Forward, Sask. and grew up in Regina. She married in 1945 and spent 35 years with Dad on numerous Air Force Bases across Canada before retirement in 1975 at which time they settled in Kamloops, B.C. to spend time with family and grandchildren. In 1993 they moved to Penticton and then in October 2008 Mom returned to Kamloops and was placed in the Hamlets in July 2011.

She is survived by her sister Hazel of White Rock; her daughter Sandra of Kamloops, and sons Bill (Susan) of Penticton, and Bob (Kathy) of Victoria; her grandchildren: Megan (Warren), Sean (Teresa), James, Jennifer, Stephanie, Kimberley, Autumn, Isabella, Massimo, Giuliana, Qualin, Alex, Adam, Alexander; and great-grandchildren: McKenna, Ethan, Abigail, Theo; special friends: Karen, Iris, Lynn, Jacqui, Donna, Mark; Maureen, Eldon, Connelly, Sean; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2006 and grandson Billie in 2008.

Over the years Mom was involved in Church work, a Sunday School teacher, a Girl Guide leader, a stamp collector, a great cook and loved to do all kinds of crafts. In June she was to receive her 70 year pin as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mom loved to go to the symphony and WCT and one of her favourites was listening to the Handbell Choirs. Mom loved Parksville - the walks on the beach and big campfires. Her wonderful smile was infectious and we will all miss that glint in her eyes.

A special thank you to Dr. Wynne and the staff on B1 and the recreation staff at the Hamlets in Westsyde. You made Mom's stay there comfortable and enjoyable.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Kamloops United Church with Rev. Dawne Taylor and Rev. Don Waldon officiating.

Interment will be in Penticton on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 with Rev. Teri Meyer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Penticton local of Special Olympics c/o 177 Secrest Avenue, Penticton, B.C., V2A 3R1 or to Kamloops United Church, 421 St. Paul Street, Kamloops, B.C., V2C 2J7 would be appreciated.
